Now, it would appear that Sony is preparing for a new version of that remote play, by giving the PS5 to play remotely through the PS4 system, offering a unique twist on the next-gen console's backward compatibility.

However, that doesn't mean that Sony won't reveal some special features, like remote multiplayer or video streaming, that might make the remote play app more impressive when the next-gen console launches.
It still remains to be seen exactly how useful this new app will be for most players, although the release of a PS5 remote play app does imply some good news for players who won't be making the transition to next-gen right away. Sony does still seem to have the PS4 system in mind, meaning that players that intend to remain with the current console for ongoing titles, like Destiny 2 or Final Fantasy 14, are likely to see continued support from the company.
